The agent of Denis Suarez has confirmed that Napoli are one of the clubs, who have expressed an interest in signing the midfielder during this summer’s transfer window. The Spain international joined the Gunners on a short-term loan from Barcelona in January but he has since struggled to settle with 95 minutes of playing time across six appearances.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss, agent Felix Guende has revealed that the midfielder is currently carrying a groin injury which has kept him out of contention at the north London side. He added that Napoli have indeed expressed an interest in the former Manchester City graduate but no conclusion regarding the same will be made until the summer.
“He has two years left at Barcelona. This year in England hasn’t been his best. He’s played little and hasn’t been able to find a rhythm. At the moment, he’s injured. He has muscle fatigue and an injury. We’re awaiting the results from the exams. Napoli? The interest is always appreciated, being a team that has been fighting for the top positions for years. It’s a bit soon to talk about the transfer window, but we aren’t excluding anything,” he said.
Suarez has barely featured under the guidance of Unai Emery this year and there have already been mentions that he has proved a flop at the north London club. Nonetheless, the club have the option to sign him permanently for £18m during the summer and it remains to be seen whether Emery will give the green light towards the move.
Arsenal are currently fourth in the Premier League table at the current point of time, and they are assured of returning to the Champions League, provided they win the remaining games of the season. They can reach the same objective by winning the Europa League, where Emery has a fantastic history in the past. The Spaniard won the competition on three straight occasions with Sevilla between 2014 and 2016.
