Merseysiders Everton began the season well despite the unpopular appointment of Spanish tactician Rafael Benitez due to his affiliation with rivals Liverpool. Benitez was the manager with the red half of Merseyside for several years and even won two major trophies during his time in the Anfield dugout. He won both the 2005 Champions League title and the 2006 FA Cup title.

The vibrant start to the season silenced the critics on the back of Benitez over his appointment as the Everton boss at the beginning of this season. His critics are back and more vocal after the Everton season collapsed under his watch. The Spaniard is under immense pressure ahead of the Norwich City game after a run of one win in their last ten games. The only win was the 2-1 win at home to Arsenal last month. Brazilian international Richarlison and Englishman Demarai Gray scored in the last ten minutes to overturn the result in favour of the Toffees afterNorwegian playmaker Martin Odegaard had given Arsenal the lead on the stroke of half-time. Since the Arsenal game, Everton have gone three games without a win.

Norwich City are the underdogs ahead of the Everton game as pointed out earlier. They were also underdogs when they faced Champions League chasers West Ham United on Wednesday according to the soccer betting odds from various soccer betting sites. In the end, Jarrod Bowen scored twice either side of the half-time break to lead the Hammers to a 2-0 win at home and a place in the top four.
