Everton vs Liverpool

Did you use listen to our tips last week? We said it would be 2-1 (@ 8/1), with Liverpool winning at both half-time AND full-time (at evens). If you’d have stuck £20 on each bet you would have had walked away with a profit on £180!

Liverpool head to Everton after another week off. I’m sure most fans would prefer to see us playing in the Cxhampions League, but the players should genuinely benefit from not travelling across Europe, spending restless nights in hotel rooms, and playing 90 minutes of high intensity football. It’s often after Champions League matches that the top clubs screw up (especially as the European tournament progresses), so now the players have to make it pay off for us.

On paper Everton are significantly poorer than Liverpool – even in our disasterous season last year we finished well above them, and had the better statistics. Having lost Mikel Arteta, who was the team’s heartbeat, Everton have struggled to get their game together, and with Anichebe and Cahill out injured and Louis Saha being ostracised for criticising the manager, we’re not sure where their goals are going to come from!

Whilst Everton struggle for strikers, we’ve got them coming out of our ears! Suarez is obviously guaranteed to start up-front, with King Kenny forced to pick between Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy to play alongside him. We think the fiesty Welshman will get the nod. In midfield we’re also spoilt for choice, with Adam, Downing, Henderson, Kuyt, Lucas, Spearing and Gerrard all vying for just 4 spots. Whether Gerrard is fit enough for a full 90 minutes is up for debate, but his experience would be invaluable.

Agger and Glen Johnson are still out, but we still have a relatively solid backline with Enrique, Kelly, Carragher and Skrtel. It should be an exciting match!

RESULT BET
Liverpool will win, make no mistake (available at 5/2 at Paddy Power). Everton actually have a good scoring record at home, so, whilst we don’t know who will score it, we gambling on Everton getting one goal. Our full-time prediction is a 3-1 win (available at a massive 21/1 at Ladbrokes).

BEST BET
Because it’s a derby, Liverpool are at longer odds than usual, which means there are some bargains out there. For instance, Luis Suarez is available at 3/1 (at Bet Clic) to be an anytime goalscorer, which we think is a great punt.
