Southgate to talk with Klopp

Gareth Southgate has had a phone call with Jurgen Klopp after Adam Lallana has been injured on international duty with England. Lallana is an important player for Liverpool, and the German manager would have been counting on him ahead of the derby match that will saw Liverpool play against Everton, and for the remaining games of the season in what will be a crucial period for the club, who are fighting to make the Champions League spaces.

Gareth Southgate said that he does not want the injury to Lallana to cause any hard feelings between the Liverpool manager and himself. He said that Klopp has always been supportive of the England team and that it will be silly to let a small issue like this to destroy a relationship.

The German manager has stated that injuries happen and that it is unfortunate for Liverpool that this has occurred in a difficult period of the season. He said that the club’s doctors have yet to assess the player and that it is only after this assessment that they will know for how long he will be out.

Liverpool managed to get past the dangerous stepping stone that is their city rivals Everton, wih a convincing victory won even with Lallana missing – though with the extra pressure falling on the shoulders of Firminho and his fellow Brazilian Coutinho, time will tell whether Liverpool will be punished from not having more strength in depth to back up Lallana. He believes that Liverpool player has the potential to become one of the best England players and that he will continue to develop in the years to come – he is only now starting to flourish as he was doing at Southampton, with his performances at Anfield in particular making him a favourite with the fans this season – his goals and assists haven’t done him any harm either!?

He just hopes that the injury will not leave the player away from the pitch for too long and that he will be back playing for his club very soon.

Jurgen Klopp believes that the absence of the England international will be difficult to cope with as Lallana is a valuable member of the team. However, he thinks that there is enough quality in the team to help him cope with this absence.
